I'm explicitly open-minded when it comes to the adventurousness of fashion, be it the styling, the matching, the silhouette and (applying for this post) the use of fabrics.

But for some reason, I just can't get pass the fact of myself being so irritated with the velvet trend really. It's uncomfortable, it can get EXTREMELY NASTY when it's in contact with any liquid(of course, worse, SWEAT), and with the same logic as silk, the glossiness can get utterly trashy.
Though it does worked well IN sophisticated shades, shown by Giorgio Armani Fall 08:
But anymore flashy, it's tacky. Excruciatingly.

Yes, they might not look THAT bad. But always remember, it's on the runway. Models just have to wear them for 30 seconds and that's it, they're off. Imagine them on you for 8 hours with sitting folds and creases. Yuck!

Well, again, I might think it's fine months later. Who knows?
